Social justice interview/videos and Reflection

Reflection

I really enjoyed interviewing a couple of people It was very interesting listening others opinions and experiences since I can also relate and agree with their opinions and experiences too. Coming up with a question was properly the hardest part since I didn’t want to ask anything boring or complicated but it all worked out in the end I thought of questions that were simple but important such as “how have you experienced or seen others go threw racism” “How can you be an ally?” These questions may not sound so interesting or like a big deal but once you reflect or hear what others responses are it can help you be a little more opened minded and aware.

As a P.O.C I can too relate with what the people I interviewed were saying, But what I liked the most was that they were all opened minded about it and they how to dealt with it, Also the 5th person I interviewed although she did not personally experience racism she mentioned how she’s seen her friends go threw it and that as a white person she’ll use her privilege to good and help others.

I really enjoyed doing this assignment hearing others voices and it made me feel safe because they are aware and even if they don’t go threw racism them selfs personally they are open mined and aware what others go threw and try to be a good ally.

Stay safe script and Storyboard

HOOK

Too inform others to stay safe and protect Them self and others around them from the coronavirus.

SOME FACTS AND STATISTICS

Sometimes when people speak or don’t cover themselves from sneezing, Saliva comes out and can get someone nearby sick. Wearing a mask can help prevent that. Wearing a face mask may limit exposure to respiratory droplets and large particles and may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus. Don’t go out if it is not necessary, Unless you have to go to the store to buy some food ,soap, toilet paper ect. But if you’re just going out to party or travel you could put yourself and others there in danger. Travel increases your chance of spreading and getting COVID-19 due to potential exposures on public transit, at airports, or in hotels. Keeping a reasonable amount of distance from others helps you and others nearby from getting sick incase one of you accidentally are sick. Since people can spread the virus before they know they are sick, it is important to stay at least 6 feet away from others when possible, even if you or they do not have any symptoms.

CALL TO ACTION

Stay safe, and if you or someone you know are feeling any COVID-19 symptoms make sure to go to the hospital to get checked and get quarantined.

PSA Beginnings: All students should stay home for school

CoronaVirus has been going on since the beginning of this year 2020, We are almost at the end of this year and nothing has changed they’re still lots of cases of people get the virus. If all students stayed home for school there would be less cases and the students will stay safe.

https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-year-20-21/return-to-school-2020/health-and-safety/daily-covid-case-map

in the website above you can see the amount of COVID-19 cases that are NYC schools. As of Friday afternoon, there have been at least 373,320 cases and 24,613 deaths in New York City since the beginning of the pandemic, according to a New York Times database. The numbers could’ve been lower if we don’t risk the students by attending school in person. The Teachers and other staff that work in the schools are at danger too, A student could effect them if they caught COVID while on there way to school or the other way around and teacher could get the student sick. The link under shows the death of teachers or staff members that worked in school cause of COVID

https://abc7ny.com/teacher-deaths-doe-department-of-education-schools/6173896/

They had to close school because too many people where getting COVID but less of those people wouldn’t have gotten COVID if they did go to the school building, they could’ve either gotten COVID else where or maybe not even have gotten it at all.

My Favorite Cartoons

My two favorite cartoons is ‘The Fairly OddParents’ and ‘Phineas and Ferb’ i used to enjoy watching this back when i was younger on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel/Disney XD What i liked about these two cartoons is that in ‘The Fairly OddParents’ it was about a kid name Timmy Tuner who has a mean babysitter but he has two fairys that makes his day easier and he can make whishes. And ‘Phineas and Ferb’  was about two brothers that always hangs out in their backyard building cool stuff and it’s summer time. and their pet Perry is a secret agent.

What Is Fake News And How Do You Avoid It?

What Is Fake News?

Fake news is something that has recently been pointed out by the president Donald Trump during his campaign called CNN a fake network due to giving “fake news”. After these accusations fake news has been something that people started talking about and started asking questions about. Fake news is news that is not accurate and is also not trustable. Fake news is information that has been shared by a news network with dishonesty, mostly to promote political movements or parties, also known as bias.

What Is Bias?

Bias is defined as prejudice in favor of or against of something, Bias can be used in many different ways, for example In news networks, the news network says things to side with someone or in many cases they may not share certain information to make one side of a story seem more trustworthy or right rather than the other. However there are many ways to avoid fake news and how to identify it.

How to avoid fake news?

A method that helps is the, “E.S.C.A.P.E” evaluator. The first step is E: evidence, you should consider weather the information looks trustworthy, try spotting for accurate dates, names, numbers, places and documents. S: source, trace who the author is, the pusblisher, founders, aggregators, and social media users. Many times when the author is identified you can see if that author is professional and can give trustable and real news. C: context, consider if this is the full story, is there something missing? Think of current events, political goals, financial pleasures, and cultural trends. A: audience, who is this information intended for? Is there a certain group that this is attempting to appeal? Observe image choices, presentation techniques, language, and content. P: purpose, why was this article/ news made? Look for a motive, what is the publishers mission, purpose or goal? Is there a use of persuasive language or images? Money making tactics or calls to action? E: execution, How is this information presented? Check the style, grammar, tone, image choices, placement and layout.

It’s important to avoid fake news.

Many people do not see the seriousness in spotting fake news. However they fail to see that it’s important to, because the people run the country and it is important for them to stay informed. It is also important to get the facts and to know what is really going on especially when it comes to bias. To avoid bias points of views and get both sides of the story, there needs to be real news. Fake news also spreads very quickly and then millions of people around the world get that false information. So to avoid believing fake news you should always check if it’s fake and make sure if their information is reliable and relevant.

Headphones 1.8 What are headphones actually?

Requirements of a sound machine

If you wanted to make a machine that could produce every possible sound, it would need to be able to vibrate of course because everything that makes sound vibrates. For example when you play a guitar the strings vibrate. When you hum your throat vibrates.

In order to be able to make all of the sounds that human can hear, the machine would need to be able to vibrate fast and slow, The machine will be able to vibrate at any speed.

What is a solenoid?

A solenoid consists of magnets filed with a wire in a loop. It’s a coil of wire that acts like a if it’s a magnet when it’s near electric stuff.

A solenoid can use the magnetic energy to push or pull something rather then turning it & it also is be a temporary magnet. When the electrical current in turned on the magnetism is also on but when it’s off the magnetism is also off. So this is why it’s temporary.

You control a solenoid by magnetism

Making a solenoid vibrate

If you repeatedly turned a solenoid on and off quickly, it would vibrate fast then stop and then vibrate again if you are turning it on and off on and off.

The faster you turned it on or off, the fast it vibrates.

When your phone plays music, what kind of electrical signal does it send your headphones? It sends your headphones a corresponding sound. & vibration.

What are headphones?

Headphones are a pair of speakers that go to your ears to listen to anything privately, & won’t work with out solenoid they won’t make any nose without it because headphones have magnets & coil, the nose passes threw the coil & a force moves the drums & produce sound.

Headphones 1.3: Sound Lab Report

Questions

The first scientific question I am investigating is, How is sound made?

The second scientific question I am investigating is, What determines the pitch of a sound?

Data/Evidence

The tuning forks vibrated.

When you stopped the vibration, the tuning forks stopped making sound.

The string on the Violin vibrated when played.

The string on the Ukulele also vibrated when played.

The singers vocal cords vibrated when she sang.

The large tuning fork sounded low.

The small tuning fork sounded high.

The drum vibrated when hit.

The cymbals vibrated when hit too.

Analysis

All of the instruments vibrated when making sound.

The smaller tuning fork vibrated 2 times faster than the large tuning fork. We saw this on the scratches on the aluminum fol.

Claims

Sound is caused by vibration.

The speed of vibration determines the pitch.

Reasoning

My research suggests the sound is caused by vibration, because every instrument vibrated when making sound.

My research suggests that pitch is determined by the speed of vibration, because the small tuning fork vibrated two times faster then the large tuning fork and sounded higher.

Significance

This means if i want to build a machine that can make any sound, it must be able to vibrate at any speed.
