A thaumatrope is a disk with a photo on both sides with stings attached on both sides, when it is spun around the photos on the disk combines cause of the persistence of vision that’s when yours eyes retains the image you are looking at.
i put the word “bruh” on my thaumatrope and it the word merged together and it look like it was spinning
